Run for a Cause – ThinkLab 5k Virtual Run

Thinklab and Department of Sports and Cultures PPI-UK present:
5km Running or Walking at your own pace
Partners
Entrants are asked to do the activity of 5km Running or Walking at their own pace and place on 6, 7, and 8 August 2021.
Entrants take part in Run for a Cause entirely at their own risk and are 100% responsible for selecting a safe route.
By joining Run for a Cause, you are accepting that Thinklab PPI UK will contact you to confirm your entry and keep you updated on the progress of your activity.
Thinklab Strava
Strava is recommended by the committees to be used by participants to track the run or walk progress. If using Strava, participants will be asked to add Thinklab PPI-UK as a friend, then the participants will be invited to the virtual run challenge.
Otherwise, entrants can use other running tracker apps, such as Nike Running Club, Endomondo, or external devices (e.g.: Fit Bit)
Submission

After completing your virtual run, entrants must:
- upload a run/walk details photo
(or multiple photos if you break the event down into several goes) to prove the completion of the event.
The photo can be in the form of screen-captures of the tracker app. Without photo(s), the activity progress will not be recorded, and you will not receive the finisher’s medal.
Upload an Instagram post of your activity of running or walking along with the social pledge as your caption,
add a hashtag #ThinkLabRunWithUs
follow us on our IG @thinklab.ppiuk , and tag us.
Social pledge is the pledge that you intend to fulfil to drive a small change in your everyday life. The pledge should be about one of these topics:
- Media & Democracy;
- Business & Digital Transformation;
- Education for Human Development;
- Culture, Culinary, & Ethnics; or
- Environment
The example of IG caption: “I pledge to recycle regularly” or “I pledge to introduce my country’s culinary to my international friends”
Prize
- Any running or walking that is executed outside of the designated dates will not be acknowledged.
- A portion of the registration fee will be donated to the COVID-19 pandemic relief fund in Indonesia as one of the worst-affected countries in the world.
- Run for a Cause is not a competitive event and as such, the main objective of this event is to be fit and have fun. However, three entrants with the most unique pledges will receive £50 each

Terms and Condition
1. Definition
Run for a Cause is a virtual run with a window of time (6-8 August 2021). Every participant is expected to do the activities with the spirit of change in their heart and manifest their spirit in the form of pledge that they will convey when they finish the running.
2. Entry Fees
– Fee to join this event is: £ 6.99
– Entry fee is non-refundable and includes an e-certificate and medal. Once entrants complete the Event and provide the relevant evidence, they will be entitled to the finisher’s item also as part of the Event entry fee.
– The Organiser shall not be responsible if the participant’s address is incorrect
3. Closing date
The closing date for entries to the Event will be on:
12pm – Wednesday, 4th August 2021
4. Safety and Health
– Entrants enter the Event entirely at their own risk
– The Organiser shall not be liable for any injury or loss occurring as a result of participation in the Event.
– Entrants are solely responsible for selecting a safe route to complete the Event.

- The Entrant agrees that, as far as they are aware, they are physically able to compete in the event and, to the extent that it may be necessary they have sought and relied upon any medical advice before the date of the event. Should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the Event which is likely to affect their ability to compete in the Event, the Entrant should withdraw from the Event.
- It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that they have the correct equipment, footwear, and clothing to participate in the Event.
5. Photo or Video Submission
- Entrants are responsible for uploading a photo, multiple photos, or videos as evidence they have completed 5k distance, such as the screen capture of the tracker app that indicates the completion of event. The submission’s deadline is 6pm – Monday, 9 August 2021.
- Entrants must upload their pictures as an Instagram post (feed), insert a social pledge as a caption with the hashtag #ThinkLabRunWithUs, follow, and tag IG @thinklab.ppiuk to be eligible for a prize.

6. Announcement of Winners
- There are three winners for the most unique pledge. Each winner will receive £50.
- To decide the winners, the committees will have internal adjudication that can not be interfered by anyone. The result is absolute and cannot be appealed.
- The winners will be announced at 14 August 2021 on ThinkLab Festival’s Main Event
7. General Data Protection Regulation
- By agreeing to our Terms and Conditions, the Entrant agrees to the Organiser storing his/her personal data including name, address, email address, date of birth, telephone numbers
- In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Entrant has the right of access to his/her personal records held on the Organiser’s computer.
